Cable Laying Method - Multi-Layer

This is default cable laying method in Bentley Raceway and Cable Management. It is typically used for CTRL and IW cables. Cables are laid next to each other without any spacing between them.

  1. Order in which cables are layered depends on cables priority. Cables with higher priority are laid first followed by cables with lower priority (smaller cables).
  2. The Cable Priority can be defined in Lib_cable.XML or imported through cable list import. Priority 1 is the highest priority and should be assigned to largest cables only, followed by increased priority numbers for smaller cables. If all cables have the same priority then this attribute is ignored during cable routing.
  3. When raceway fill factor is calculated, the cable area is approximated as a square (Square approximation is 27% larger than the circle cable area). This is done in order to ensure the cable tray cannot be overloaded due to fact that there is unusable space (gap) between cables.
  4. For raceway fill calculation, the values for Loading Width and Loading Depth are used instead of physical tray dimensions.
  5. With the multi-layer override, no additional parameters need to be defined.
